Zakat & Social Impact

At Rihlat Muzdahira, we believe that true success lies not only in financial growth but also in the impact we leave on society. Guided by Sharīʿah and the obligation of Zakāt, we fulfil this duty while uplifting communities most in need.

“Establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah.”
Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:110

Why Zakat Matters to Us

Zakāt is more than an obligation—it is a pillar of social justice. It redistributes wealth, reduces inequality, and provides relief to vulnerable families, while reminding us that all wealth is a trust from Allah. Our programme ensures the discharge of our obligatory Zakāt duty, purifying wealth and redistributing a portion of resources to society in line with Sharīʿah requirements.

How We Give Back

Structured distribution aligned with the eight categories (Asnāf) in Qur’ān 9:60, overseen by our Shari’ah Supervisory Board. We support among others:

  • Education & Skills Development – scholarships and training for zakāt-eligible students (fuqarāʾ and masākīn).
  • Food Security & Basic Needs – essential provisions to vulnerable households (poor and needy).
  • Community Empowerment – initiatives helping eligible beneficiaries (e.g., poor, those in debt, vulnerable workers) achieve self‑sufficiency and dignity.

“Charity does not decrease wealth.” — Sahih Muslim

Faith in Action

For us, Zakāt is not just a compliance requirement—it is part of our purpose and identity. It ensures that while we aim to grow our investors’ capital, we also fulfil our collective obligation, directing it to eligible beneficiaries in ways that uplift, empower, and sustain communities in line with Sharīʿah requirements.

Zakāt Commitment

Under the supervision of its Shari’ah Supervisory Board, Rihlat Muzdahira calculates its Zakāt obligation annually based on zakatable assets after confirming that the nisab threshold and ḥawl (lunar year) conditions are met. This Zakāt is then distributed to the eight categories of beneficiaries (Asnāf) mentioned in the Qur’an (Surah At‑Tawbah, 9:60), with a strong focus on supporting food security and essential needs for the most vulnerable.

For the People, By the People

Your investment journey is not just about returns — it is also about fulfilling the duty of Zakāt. Through this, financial success is purified and redistributed to the zakāt‑eligible beneficiaries (Asnāf), strengthening bonds of compassion and solidarity in line with Shari’ah rulings.

Zakat Programme

Rihlat Muzdahira Zakāt Distribution Framework

1. Commitment & Calculation

  • Zakāt is calculated annually based on zakatable assets (net assets/working capital method).
  • Liability confirmed once nisab and ḥawl conditions are met.
  • Distribution may occur in instalments after the annual calculation.
  • All calculations reviewed and approved by the Shariah Supervisory Board.

2. Collection & Allocation

  • Dedicated Zakāt Account maintained, separate from operations.
  • Allocations deposited based on the annual assessment.
  • Priorities include the poor, needy, debtors, and zakāt‑eligible students within the eight Asnāf (Qur’ān 9:60).

3. Governance & Oversight

  • Zakāt distribution managed by a Zakāt Committee under SSB oversight.
  • Annual Shariah audits verify compliance with Sharīʿah rulings.
  • Transparent reporting provided internally and externally.

4. Distribution Channels

  • Direct aid to zakāt‑eligible households (e.g., food hampers, stipends).
  • Partnerships with trusted NGOs/Masājid to reach wider Asnāf.
  • Regional/international allocations considered; preference for local needs unless greater need exists elsewhere.

5. Transparency & Reporting

  • Quarterly Zakāt Impact Report (summarised data, anonymised case studies).
  • Beneficiary records maintained to prevent duplication and ensure fairness.
  • Communications highlight Sharīʿah fulfilment; Zakāt is never used as a marketing tool.
