At Rihlat Muzdahira, Tobie is responsible for internal legal, risk, and compliance oversight across all Enterprise and Community Projects (ECPs). Louise Fourie is the Chief Operating Officer of Unum Capital and serves as Executive Director and Key Individual at Rihlat Muzdahira. With a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Pretoria and the designation of Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), she combines scientific precision with financial expertise.

Johan holds a BComm in Business Science – Financial Management from the University of Stellenbosch and has earned his Representative and Key Individual (KI) qualifications, underscoring his technical proficiency and regulatory compliance in the sector.

He began his career as a Financial Advisor before expanding into the Vehicle and Asset Finance industry. Johan went on to serve in a senior managerial role at a leading competitor in the Rent-to-Own financing space, where he was appointed as the Key Individual (KI) for the company’s FSP license. His depth of knowledge in the Rent-to-Own sector is not only professional but also personal, shaped by years of experience and insights gained from his father, who owned and operated a Rent-to-Own business.

At Rihlat Muzdahira, Johan plays a pivotal role in managing the Asset and Vehicle Finance Fund. He works closely with Rihlat’s Qualifying Company (QC), Newfinance, ensuring rigorous portfolio oversight, optimal structuring, and alignment with the Fund’s investment objectives. His unique combination of hands-on industry experience, regulatory expertise, and strategic foresight enables him to guide the Fund towards sustained growth and excellence.

The Fund’s strategy — under Johan’s leadership — is focused on acquiring and managing a diversified portfolio of income-generating assets, with a particular emphasis on the Rent-to-Own segment, where his specialized expertise is unmatched. Through a disciplined approach to risk management, operational excellence, and transparency, Johan and the Rihlat team continue to deliver strong returns while upholding the values of responsible and ethical investing.

Building on this success, Jean Paul advanced into the Financial Services and Corporate Finance Division of the group, where he currently serves as CEO. In this role, he is responsible for raising capital across multiple financing instruments — including bridging finance, trade finance, equity, and asset finance — to support the growth of South African SMMEs.

Since 2020, Jean Paul and his team have successfully raised in excess of R1.4 billion in capital for third-party clients, demonstrating his ability to deliver meaningful results and scale funding solutions in dynamic markets.

At Rihlat Muzdahira, Jean Paul will serve on the Executive Team of the Property and Commodity & Trade Finance ECPs, where his expertise in both property and finance will add depth and value to the group’s vision and execution.

Currently also serving as Senior Executive for Qualirod Capital, Paul oversees the management of the group’s subsidiaries and drives strategic capital raising initiatives. In just the past two years, he has successfully raised more than R2 billion for his extensive corporate finance client portfolio, underscoring his reputation for execution at scale.

Paul’s career began in academia as a lecturer in Business Science at the University of Stellenbosch’s satellite campus, before he entered the financial sector. His first corporate role was as Senior Portfolio Manager at Bankorptrust (later merged with Senbank), where he managed the Bankorp Pension Fund. He was also a founding member of the Senbank Unit Trusts, today widely recognized as the Absa Unit Trusts, one of South Africa’s most established investment platforms.

From there, Paul was recruited by BJM (Barnard Jacobs Mellet), a leading stockbroking firm, where he rose to Director, Shareholder, and Head of the International Trading Desk, playing a pivotal role during the firm’s successful listing. After retiring from stockbroking, Paul founded his own corporate finance and bridging finance company, which he later sold to a large corporate player — further cementing his entrepreneurial and financial acumen.

At Rihlat Muzdahira, Paul will serve as CEO of the General Partner (GP) and hold a place on the Executive Teams of all three ECPs: Property, Commodity & Trade Finance, and Asset & Vehicle Finance. His deep expertise, proven leadership, and unmatched ability to mobilize capital will be instrumental in steering the group’s strategic vision, scaling its impact, and delivering sustained value to investors and stakeholders alike.
